Godmother is a performance which centres the objects, both found and made, that have informed the artist’s development of The Moon is Wet, the 3-channel video installation at the heart of her solo exhibition, Make a travel deep of your inside, and don’t forget me to take.
Unfolding as a series of stories and gestures which meditate on spectral ancestral kinships, the performance creates an embodied score for sensing history. Drawing from figures mythical and historical, including the Majie, spirit mediums, and deities, Godmother opens questions about the role of storytelling and meaning-making.
